Will damascus be destroyed soon?

Tensions are escalating to an all time high in the middle east.  Israel and Turkey are holding "war games" along Syria's border and the U.S. wants Jordan to do the same to try and prevent Syria from launching attacks towards neighboring countries (Lebanon, Turkey, Israel, Jordan)  Israel has stated that if one missile hits Tel Aviv from Syria that "Damascus will pay the price"  Most bible students immediately think of the prophecy in Isaiah about Damascus becoming a ruinous heap.

Isaiah 17

1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken; they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
3 And the fortress shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria; they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Is this prophecy going to occur soon?  It certainly looks like it to me.  Of course, even if Damascus is not destroyed by a nuclear missile, it could easily be destroyed by an asteroid such as 2005 YU55 or a volcano or earthquake - it does not necessarily have to be destroyed by a nuclear missile or any other man made weapon.
